Your Warriors traveled to Ludington to take on the Orioles in a Wednesday night matchup. This would be the second conference match of the season for WMC.

For the past few years, Ludington and WMC have established a deep history of competing for the conference title and edging one another for league play victories. Tonight was no different as the Warriors and Orioles battled it out in the first half. It was a great overall defensive battle for both teams to head into half time 0-0.

Although the Warriors had a few chances, it appeared to be an even game with both teams maintaining possession and generating opportunities. Ludington would have a few opportunties in the first half, although, they could not get a quality shot to get by Senior goalkeeper, Libby Mast.

After some tactical adjustments due to injuries, the Warriors came out of halftime looking to continue their defensive efforts but also look to take the lead. That pursuit would take 30 grueling minutes as the Orioles were relentless in the midfield. Eventually, the Warriors were able to find their opportunity after a Ludington player forced a ball back to their outside defender which unfortunately skipped past her. This allowed for Junior, Ally Oppenhuizen, to run unto the ball for a fast break. Oppenhuizen was able to find sophomore player, Brooklyn Watts, making a run across goal. Watts would set herself up to the right to lazer a shot near post to beat the Orioles keeper with 15 minutes left in the match.

From there, the momentum shifted and the Warriors looked to generate more chances to get an assurance goal. They were unable to do so before the time expired.

Libby Mast posted for her second shutout in a row and three total on the season. There were great defensive moments from Nadia Burr (So.), Sydney Betten (Sr.), Kaiya Betten (So.), Haley Breuker (Sr.), and Emily Matz (Jr.). Some great moments from Kayla Balder (Jr.) and Eleanor Kingshott (So.) coming on to give us quality minutes.

The Warriors look to rest up before hosting a North-South Tournament on Saturday with guests Fruitport, Leland, and TC St. Francis. The Warriors will use this tournament as an opportunity to rest some players and give exposure to some other players. After the weekend, the Warriors will jump into a three match week.
