North South Tournament Results

Your Warriors hosted a North-South Tournament that operated from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Warrior Soccer Stadium. WMC would play two games against our "North" opponents, however, they were shortened games to fit the tournament format. WMC took on the Comets of Leland first. 

The Warriors dominated most parts of the match, but struggled to find that finishing component they've had in the last few games. Brooklyn Watts (So.) had some great shots on goal and an amazing opportunity with 20 seconds left of the game to put the Warriors up 1-0, however, it hit the top right corner crossbar and post before going out of play to conclude the first 60 minute game. 

After an hour rest, the Warriors were back on the field to finish the tournament with a 60 minute game against Traverse City St. Francis. The Warriors dominated most of this game, but again, could not find the "final" pass to put us in quality scoring opportunities.  After going into half-time 0-0, the Gladiators were able to net a goal right away after some poor defending. Although the Warriors continued to control the game, they could not net an equalizer. 

Coach Pekel and Coach McFarland were thankful for the three teams (Fruitport, Leland, and TC St. Francis) coming to the tournament and hope to continue hosting this in the future! They agreed it was nice to have a safe environment for the Warriors to rest some players for their next conference games while allowing more opportunities for players to get exposure at our home field.

WMC looks on for their big conference matches on Monday versus Muskegon Catholic Central and Wednesday at Orchard View.
