Your warriors were back at another conference showdown against cross-town rivals, Muskegon Catholic Central. WMC knew it would be a tough competition between the two teams and would come down to a few opportunities on either side to put the game away.

Once the whistle blew, the warriors came out a bit lethargic and the crusaders took the game over for the first 5 minutes. However, the warriors bounced back and the game became competitive. The warriors edged out the crusaders in shots on goal and possession, however, could not capitalize on a few opportunities. The crusaders' goalkeeper made some big saves to keep the game 0-0. 

The last 10 minutes looked promising for WMC as they were generating opportunities from Kaiya Betten (So.) and Brooklyn Watts (So.). Hallie Lindale (Fr.) also came in and gave us good minutes adding a line of pressure for their defenders. 

Players of impact that Coach Pekel wants to commend are Brianna Zuidema (Jr.), Sydney Betten (Sr.), and Grace Sytsema (Sr.). They did a great job winning the midfield defensive battles. This is the first game to have Sytsema back since before Spring Break. 

Coach Pekel had this to say after the game, "This was a humbling experience for this group. We've had some good showings early this season and I think our girls began to lose sight of what made us successful. MCC wanted it more than us and we are fortunate it ended in a draw based on what we presented on the field today. We have to be better!" 

The warriors take on the cardinals of Orchard View at their place on Wednesday. The game will start at 5:45 and will be another important game for this group in conference play!
