Score
WARRIORS: 3
ORCHARD VIEW HIGH SCHOOL: 1

WMC: 3 OV: 1

Your warriors dominated the game minutes after the whistle was blown. It would take the warriors 5 minutes to score from a great ball from Emily Matz (Jr.) to midfielder Sydney Betten (Sr.). From there, the warriors continued to create chances with the cardinals high back line, however, most shots were directly to their keeper for easy handles. WMC ran the midfield with Brianna Zuidema (Jr.), Kaiya Betten (So.), Sydney Betten (Sr.), and Grace Sytsema (Sr.) which generated many opportunities into the attack. Both Brooklyn Watts (So.) and Ally Oppenhuizen (Jr.) had some great moments as an attacking duo stretching the back-line and exploiting space.

Eventually, the warriors were able to net their second goal from a great combination play from the Betten sisters outside of the 18 yard box. Kaiya was able to find Sydney running into space to break a line to where she found Brooklyn slipping in to goal. Watts was able to find the top right corner to beat the keeper with 13 minutes left in the second half.

The first 10 minutes of the second half the warriors generated even more opportunities, but kept shooting directly to their keeper. Eventually, Ally Oppenhuizen was able to volley into the top right corner off a rebound from Watts' shot. This would put the warriors up 3 - 0 with 29 minutes left.

The cardinals had some opportunities with their speedy forwards, however, Nadia Burr (So.) and Chloe Nadeau (Sr.) were able to make great defensive plays. Libby Mast (Sr.) was able to make one great save to put the ball over the bar with 16 minutes to go. At that moment, OV was pushing more players into the attack and was able to create some more chances. Their only goal would come from a handling error as the ball spun into the near post. This would be at the 9 minute mark of the contest.

The warriors would step away with a 3 - 1 scoreline. Both Coach McFarland and Coach Pekel were proud of the girls' effort and attacking opportunities in this game. Coach Pekel mentioned that she did not think the scoreline showcased the reality of the game. She said, "If we could finish at least 50% of our chances today, it would have been a different scoreline. We did a better job creating opportunities to get to goal, but now we have to put them in the back of the net."

The warriors are on the road Friday for a matchup with the squires from Calvin Christian. WMC will use this as another opportunity to rest players as their pursuit is to continue making strides in the league play. The game will begin at 6:00.
