WMC traveled to Grandville to take on the squires of Calvin Christian. It was evident that both teams were evenly matched and it would be a competitive game. The squires were able to generate more chances than the warriors, however, Libby Mast (Sr.) made some phenomenal saves to end in a draw.

One of Mast's moments was 30 seconds into the second half when a well hit ball was sent to the far post. Somehow, Mast was able to get a hand on it to send it out for a corner. Then, 15 minutes later, the squires had another great shot and Mast answered the call by knocking it away.

WMC struggled finding any true attack against a speedy back-line. The squires did a great job eliminating chances and matching up well in the midfield. The saving grace for the warriors was the defensive tackles/battles and great goalkeeping from Mast.

Key players for the match were Libby Mast (Sr.), Haley Breuker (Sr.), Nadia Burr (So.), Emily Matz (Jr.), Brianna Zuidema (Jr.), Sydney Betten (Sr.), Kaiya Betten (So.), and Chloe Nadeau (Sr.). WMC also had some great contributions from Kayla Balder (Jr.), Eleanor Kingshott (So.), Hallie Lindale (Fr.), and Jacelyn Leiter (Sr.).

Coach Pekel was content with walking away with a draw as she was pleased with the effort displayed by all players. "I feel like every high school coach is in a similar predicament where you play so many games with little recovery time that you use non-league games to create that time. We have some key players starting to develop nagging injuries and my job is to balance that as best as I can. We were able to do a little bit of that tonight against a competitive team that is well coached."

WMC has a few days to recoup before playing Manistee High School for the second time this season. The match will be at home on Wednesday beginning at 6:00. Then, the warriors will take on out-of-state Wheaton Academy (Chicago, IL) on Friday at home.
